Ode to my (former) house

So, I figured I would pay my respects to my old house here in this blog before I start writing about our new home. We used to live in a 2200 square foot home in Karns. There was absolutely nothing wrong with it. I actually really really liked it. So when we finally sold it , signed all the papers and "gave it away", I got a bit emotional and wrote this.

"Today we officially sold our house. Our first house together. Our home. Such a strange feeling to see all the rooms empty and almost everything that made it "ours" completely gone ( well, we are leaving them with our curtains :-/ ) . However, as I looked around I couldn't help but realize that even though we had tried to strip the place off of all of our personal touches, there are still a lot of memories inside those empty walls. Jerry and I learned to be husband and wife in there. We had arguments, fights, discussions... we made up...several times! We had visitors - family and dear friends from near and far - come stay with us multiple times. We truly enjoyed being able to host loved ones under our roof and get to spend precious moments with them. I am particularly thankful for the beautiful sunsets I was blessed to witness numerous times from my back porch. And boy, what a treat to be able to see the leaves changing colors in the Fall right there in my wooded backyard. The front yard taught this city girl, raised in a concrete jungle, a little bit about gardening. Before caring for my flower beds I had no idea there was a difference between annuals and perennial plants! Heck, I thought all flowers lived forever! But at one point this city girl started missing the urban lifestyle she grew up so accustomed to. And after some thought , we decided to sell our beautiful, full of memories house and move downtown! We are excited about the new memories we are going to make there. But I am certain that I'll never forget 4070 Mountain Vista Rd. Our first house that was so good to us...our family's first home." - March 9th, 2013
